  • How do I apply for a grant?
    Contact the Housing Authority in the property's area to see if they offer any homebuyer grants. If they do, then they will have the steps and an application for you to fill out. We’ll happily provide any information they require from us.Few readers

    Gifts can be from any family member — parent, step parent, sibling or step sibling, grandparent, uncle/aunt or cousin.Few readers

    Typically you need to have a home picked out prior to applying for a grant, but not always. Contact your town, or county Housing Authority and they can give you the details on the guidelines.Few readers

  • How do I prove I’m getting a gift from a relative?
    We’ll give you a gift letter verifying the source of the gift, then we track the funds transferred to you. We’ll need a copy of the gift check, proof that the gift giver has access to the funds (a bank statement) and verification that you have deposited the gift into your own account.Few readers

  • Why can’t I get a gift from a non-relative?
    We need to be sure it’s a genuine gift (not a temporary loan) and the chances of it being a loan are far more likely if you’re not related.Few readers

    As soon as possible really, but you should plan on having the gift funds in your name when you provide the purchase and sale agreement. We'll need to verify and source the gift funds so the sooner we can start, the better.Few readers

    You can pause the application and get confirmation of the amount, or you can just estimate what you think the gift amount will be. Then just jump right in where you left off.Few readers
  • My gift is coming from outside of the US, how do I get you that info?
    You’ll need to get your Loan Guide involved to help here — we’ll need to know what country the gift is coming from and possible help with translation. After that, we’ll verify the gift the same way we would if it were coming from within the US. We’ll need a copy of the gift check, proof that the gift giver has access to the funds (a bank statement) and verification that you have deposited the gift into your own account.Few readers
